VISA/ENTRY PERMIT

Travel to Bhutan is simple and well-organized.

All international visitors (except citizens of India, Bangladesh, and the Maldives) require a visa. This process is fully handled by us as your tour operator—so you can travel with ease and peace of mind.

Once your trip is confirmed, we take care of your visa application and submit it to the relevant authorities. Your visa is approved prior to arrival, and you will receive a clearance letter to present when boarding your flight. Upon arrival, the visa is stamped into your passport.

For regional travellers, entry permits are issued at the point of entry, and we ensure the process is smooth and seamless.

Regional Visitors

Indian, Bangladeshi, and Maldivian nationals can obtain a permit at the port of entry by presenting a valid passport (minimum 6 months validity).

Indian nationals may also use their Voter Identity Card (VIC) instead of a passport.

International Tourists

All other visitors must obtain a visa clearance prior to travel. Visas are processed online through a licensed Bhutanese tour operator or a foreign travel agent.

Application Process

  • Send the photo-page of your passport to your Bhutanese tour operator.
  • Pay your holiday fee + USD $40 visa fee via bank transfer to the Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB).
  • Once received, visa clearance is issued within 72 working hours.
  • Show your visa clearance letter upon arrival your visa will be stamped in your passport.

Online Regional Permit System

To make travel easier for visitors from India, Bangladesh, and Maldives, the Department of Immigration and TCB have introduced the Online Permit System.

This system allows online permit applications through registered tour operators and TCB-certified hotels, for entry via Paro and Phuntsholing.

Visitors using this system can obtain permit and route clearances in advance, just like international tourists.
